Way out in Nebraska during WW II a group of women organized an effort to provide refreshments, and a kind word or two, to military men and women passing through their small town on the train.    These women met every train that passed through North Platte during WW II regardless of the time of day or night it stopped there.   During a time of severe rationing these women provided food for the North Platte Canteen from their own family supplies.  This video is about the North Platte Canteen.  The Union Pacific Railroad tore down the North Platte rail station building sometime in the late 1940s.   Today all that stands on the site is a memorial structure with the usual plaque on it.

This video series, hosted by Michael Gross, will teach you the simple how-to workshop techniques you need to know to build a snazzy HO scale train layout.
